  • Joshua is out of town tonight.
He's been gone since Friday at 0430.
I pick him up tomorrow night at 1845.

Being a single doggie mommy is hard work.
No one else to help pick up poo, barf or feed the dogs. No one to help police the naughty pupsters when the decide that eating mesquite bean pods is the thing to do - even if it makes Mr Dog barfy and listless and costs about $70 for each tried to the vet because he has an upset tummy.

Also no one to mow the lawn which is growing at an astronomicalllllly rate (approximately 0.5436783902 inches every 12 hours, seriously!).
And no one to help cook, get the mail, empty the dishwasher, pet the cats or scoop the litterboxes.

Single people - seriously, I'd forgotten how much work it is! You guys rock. And especially single moms/dads, you people are awesome. Especially since authority figures frown on leaving your children in a wire crate while you're at work all day.

Ironically, the extra work is not what is making me cranky, mopey and generally bored and dull. It's not even the lack of nookies (dovetailing menstruation with vacation blows!). It's mainly that I miss my hubby. A lot.

    *sigh*
    Only one more night.
And then there will be nookies and floor sweeping and hugs and snuggles and whatnot.

  • Is this the first time you've been at home without him before?

You have dogs AND cats!? Fun!!

I wonder how I'd feel in your scenario. I don't live with my boyfriend, but we're catsitting for friends for two weeks (almost done) and I'm DYING for a day to myself!!!! hahahahaha. But I think after you've been married for a while, it's probably different...

  • @KameraSutra - This is the first time since we got Ripley in January that he's been gone overnight. I've had Indiana and the three cats alone before and I've also had foster dogs and Indiana and the three cats alone before but never with the addition of the Ripster. She's a lot of work - as well as this is the longest amount of time that I think we've been apart since before we moved out here to AZ.

Dogs + cats = a hoot most of the time. The cats usually torment the dogs until the dogs torment them back. It often causes mayhem and barking and yowling.

A day I don't mind. In fact, I typically rather enjoy when he has class on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I am pretty much solo gal from about 0830 when I leave the house until he gets home at night (after I've gone to sleep - so I don't usually see him until about 0500 the next day.) I do have doggie duty those days too - but one day is not bad by myself. It mostly sucks to have a WEEKEND all alone with the dogs and cats. I can't really make plans that last terribly long unless I take the pupsters with me. As well, this trip was rather spur of the moment so I had NO plans with friends or anything except housework, gym, studying and dog duty.
