  • Man, vacations are exhausting. I need a day off to sleep.

I'm back in the land of the sun - and it is indeed warm.

Still on plan for my "lifestyle" change, though I'm getting my hiney kicked in my family's weight loss challenge. I can't compete with my nursing sister or with my brother in law who just has to limit portions to lose a lot of weight. Ah well - time will tell, especially when it comes to the maintenance!

I also want to start a new challenge - I was going to start it this morning as a matter of fact, but I couldn't get my hiney up and out of bed so maybe this evening. It's a 6 week training program designed to train you to be able to 100 pushups in a row after you complete it. That would be awesome, don't you think? I can currently do around 10 or 12 man style pushups with good form, I think so I have a long way to go.

That is the link for the challenge website if you're interested.

  • I am going to train to "run" a 5K in October.  I am NOT a runner, but I am going to do this race in under 45 minutes. I know I can do it!

  • I bet I would really struggle to do 10-12 real push-ups! I do like the yoga "table" position--you just go down in the push-up, and hold it there, then go into downward dog instead of pushing back up. Pull-ups--now that's the real challenge, and as former tree dwellers, we really should be able to do 'em! I bet I could do...one.

  • @dancedout - I managed to do better than I thought last night - 15 manstyle pushups to my hubby's 21. Not bad not bad! I know which yoga position you're talking about - when we do that one in yoga my triceps are screaming by the end. We'll see if 6 weeks from now I can do 100 pushups. If I can, I may actually record myself on video because that would be really really awesome. My next goal after 100 pushups is to run a 5k -- but maybe after than one I'll shoot for pull-ups...not a bad challenge since they're fun.

  • @ponderous - I've started training for my 5k too - it's not until November I think, and admittedly, I haven't done much with the vacation in there but hopefully this weekend? We'll see I really want to run it in 35 to 40 minutes - even if there is some walking in there I would be sooo damn proud!

  • @Kellybones - that's how I feel. I can already walk a mile in less than 20 minutes - and that's just walking. so, my goal is under 45 - walking and jogging. my 5k is october 10 - the one year anniversary of the finality of my divorce. good timing, if you ask me.

  • @ponderous -  Wogging! That's what they call it on the website I read a lot. It sounds like a great anniversary present to yourself!

  • @Kellybones - What is that website?

  • I'm over on the forums (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum) - specifically I hang out in the weight watchers areas and the Biggest Loser challenge area. Right now there is a biggest loser challenge going on - we're on week 8 of 15 - I've lost 7lbs that I've recorded on there. I really like the site. It's primarily women centric and very supportive. They also have a good deal of information that is honest about what diets they like and how well the work - about LOTS of diets as well as good exercise information. They also have a before and after photo area under Goals! and man...some of those pictures! Talk about motivation! We're talking 100+lbs lost by many of them.
