It's amazing how easy it is to only write about my current focus in life - weight loss/exercise/healthy living and whatnot. I realize that it is a major focus in my life (and apparently fairly entertaining for you folks as my footprints and comments have never really been this high) but it isn't my whole life.
Of course, the rest of my life may also be highly boring.
I have the dogs - Ripley - the evil puppy piranha, the little red bitch or as I have fondly dubbed her "Little Dog" which would be less funny if she weren't such a moose of a cattle dog - and Indiana - who really only has one or maybe two nicknames "Mr. Dog" and "Who's the best doggie in the world?" (that one always makes him wag his tail a lot). I have the kitties - Tubby gets fatter every day - well, maybe not everyday but she's still like a little fluffy coffeetable with legs and squeaks. Zeppo managed to get a wound on his nose that he keeps digging at - and as he has a little white face, it looks like has grown a giant new reddish spot. Bootses is Bootses. She squeaks a lot and stands on my face at night. She fluffs my face and licks my eyelids when I forget to refill her food bowl at night.
I have my volunteer work with New Hope Cattle Dogs. Primarily I do events and store a crapton of crap for the rescue. Luckily, most of the events are over as the days are now too hot to do outdoor events - it's clearly 90 already and that's really buggering warm for the poor furry doggies. I do have an indoor event in May and probably another one in July. I think next season (which will start in probably October) that I will stop doing all the events. For awhile, I was doing one almost every weekend - which means basically a 10 or 12 hour volunteer event with setup, take down, being there all day, transporting foster dogs and whatnot. This coming cool season, I want to hike at least every other weekend. That will be AWESOME. I likes the hikes.
I plan to start training to RUN a 5k here pretty soon - though I guess that still qualifies in the weight loss/exercise/healthy living category - but I'm reather excited about it. I don't know which 5k I will do yet but I will do at least one of them. I think that would be cool, don't you? I already walk 5ks on the treadmill pretty routinely and it takes me less than an hour so I'm hoping to run it in less than 40 minutes. Hell, maybe I could be crazy optimistic and aim for about 30 minutes? I guess it's only 3.1 miles or so - that would be about 6.2mph. Hey you runners out there - is that too much? I jog intervals on the treadmill (when I don't want to play with the incline button) and usually am doing 3-5 minutes at about 5 to 5.5mph...
Aside from this - my biggest focus is work. I hate work. I need a different job in a less toxic environment. Unfortunately, this toxic environment also has 1st shift flex time hours...a very good pay rate...and generous PTO...BLAH. I just hate working somewhere this disorganized where people treat each other so freaking poorly.
In May Colleen comes to visit. I think we'll do the Grand Canyon, Martinis and Manicures and maybe the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and a hike...depends on how hot it is.
In June I go back to Indiana for my Amy's wedding. We'll see if I achieve my goal before then and how well the bridesmaid's dress fits me - I may have to have it sized again! I pick it up tomorrow evening so we'll see...

You've been doing so well, I bet you have to get it taken in again!
I'm doing the Grand Canyon with my family this Christmas, any other ideas for Southwest adventures?
I've cut back my volunteer hours in the last year or so as well. Sometimes you can give everything for the dogs, and sometimes you need more time of your own.
If you get to the point where you can run 2-3 miles comfortably, you'll do fine in a 5K. In fact, you'll probably be surprised at how fast your time was. I hope you sign up for one - races are fun!
I was going to visit with Colleen, but the cash is tight right now. I ran on the treadmill last night at 6.5 mph, but it was only every other minute for twenty minutes. I'm trying to work up to it. I'm enjoying my two and a half days off currently.
