Well, stupid thefts continue. As does the stupid vandalism of ye olde corolla.
Over this weekend, my car has managed to "somehow" develop a 4 foot
long scratch across the hood as well as a bent radio antenna. Oh, and
someone stole all my change out of the little tray in the front. I have
little doubt that someone managed to squirm their scrawny hand into my
car and somehow get the window down to steal my whoppin' two bucks
worth of change.*sigh*
Whenever I wonder why I think people suck, such things happen that make
me want to scream and beat people. Stealing a crappy amount of change
is just dumb - I mean, it was mostly pennies (of which they took EVERY
SINGLE ONE) - but to willfully damage someone else's property... I just
don't understand. I never (not even once) participated in vandalism as
a hoodlum teenager (my #1 suspect for the vandalism being the group of
late teens hanging out near my car Friday evening). I would never,
never, purposefully destroy or harm someone's stuff. Why would someone?
Is it fun? Did I miss out on some formative event in my teenage years
by not doing it?*

*In other news, today's orientation session for work was crazy long -
about 9 nine hours or so. Blergh. And it was just me. No one else was
being orientated (so why they couldn't start me last week, I don't
know), so it was just me doing reams of paperwork, watching lots and
lots of videos and talking to a bunch of people who really couldn't
care less that someone new was being hired.I can't wait to start working at 0100 on Wednesday.
Well, I suppose I should add that I'm nervous and I don't want to be up
all night, but at least this whole buggering mess of waiting will be
over.Oh yeah, and I have to take a class to work there - Immunohematology.
Apparently, even though I have two degrees, that doesn't make up for
the requirement of that one class. At least it's offered through the
company and for no charge (like my Hepatitis B shots!).Things I'm now excited about:
- Money, money, money. (Have I
mentioned what I'm going to do with my entire first paycheck?)
- Accruing real grown up paid vacation
time during which I can count up how much money I'm being paid to be
either a.) at home or b.) somewhere awesome - like a cruise. Or my
belated honeymoon.
- Career. 'Nuff said.
- Insurance. Good stuff. Other benefits like 401k with company matching (more money!)
- Lab coat, goggles, etc (yes,
I'm a dork - but at least I'm not excited really about the booties and
the hair net I'll have to wear....)
- Not being in the apartment with nothing to do all day, everyday..........
- The program they have
where they will pay 100% of your tuition up to $2500/year for you to
take ANY college class you want after you've been there for 6 months
(guess what I'm doing in January?)Things I'm not excited about:
- Work homework. Homework. From work.
Blah. And it's actually work. I have to go to the work library and look
stuff up and everything (I realize this is ironic given that I'm
excited about taking college classes).
- Hepatitis B shots. Ouch, Ouch, Ouch (cuz, there are three of them you know)
- Holy bloody job training Batmans!
Lots and lots of it. Oooooodles. I realize that this is a critical type
position, but damnation! (And really, I hate that I have to take sexual
harassment training)
- And not to play the same old tune,
but suck hours. I am currently consoling myself with the fact that the
bedroom is now dark with the new ugly blanket over the window trick and
that at least I'm going to be sleeping away the day during the three
hottest months of the year (tomorrow will be 112!). It will be less
exciting when I'm wanting to do thing outdoor say in November when it's
nice and 80 degrees and sunny, but hopefully by then I'll be more
weather and time adjusted. (Hopefully)

what exactly are you going to be doing?
I was wondering the same thing as Wild Kitty up there^.
Well, it sounds like a whole lot to take in and process. It'll be different, that's for sure. But a lot of it, you'll be used to, as well. (Homework, for example. Heh.)
Man, vandalism bugs the shit out of me, too. What a crock of shit. I don't get it. I just don't.
pet peeve #4 - theft. i can't even comment, that shit pisses me off so much. i worked for it, not you, go get your own and leave my stuff alone. 112, eh? sounds good to me.
