  • While listening to the radio on the way to work...
I stopped to listen to the DJs chat, simply because I'd scanned through all the stations and everyone was talking or having commercials. I was hoping to catch the news...Instead, I learned this very interesting tidbit - according to psychologist (or so claims the DJ, so how much do you trust this?), the number one song for the year you turned 18 is the "theme" of your life. So, me being the doof that I am, and being alone at work and bored, I went and looked it up....

mine? 1998 - the number 1 song "Truly, Madly, Deeply" by Savage Garden.

    what's yours?

  • "All for Love" by Bryan Adams. I am about peeing my pants that is such a crock!

  • Actually, go here and you can see all the songs that topped the chart during my 18th year.

  • okay, i think i win...1995...Gangsta's Paradise...yeah, i win. i mean come on. coolio!

  • Hmm... well, I don't know how well that applies to someone who grew up overseas.  I always picked
"I Am A Rock" by Simon and Garfunkel, but that was around long before I was 18... in mid 1980.  Most of the songs in 1980 were not favorites of mine.

  • you know what? i'm still giggling about this. like 6 hours later or something. "as i walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." lord almighty...=O)

  • Um, yeah. Okay, so I went so far as to google "1998, #1 song" etc. etc. and then I realized...

You and I have the same year.

    Yes, I am a dumbass.

    LOL

  • My song, according to the Grammy Award for Song of the Year (1996), is "Change the World."  That sounds pretty damn good to me.  But, I don't remember the song....

K's song (1993) is "A Whole New World."  Interesting correlation, don't you think?

  • No wonder my life has been a bit weird, if "Truly Madly Deeply" is the theme song? Ugh

  • The Song of the Year for 2000 (yeah, I'm just a baby) was "Beautiful Day" by U2 according to the Grammy's.

  • So... like more than 10 million plus people or so all have the same theme song for their lives?  Sounds like flawed logic to me.

  • Welll, acc'd to popculturemadness.com, my theme song for life is "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston.  However, Virgin Radio tells me it's "Everybody Hurts" by REM.  Hmm.  There's a message in there somewhere.

  • It would appear that mine is "Down Under" by Men At Work in 1983 (yes, I'm THAT old - - hee hee)!!

Speaking of getting older, I would like to wish you a very Happy Birthday today! Best wishes for an awesome celebration!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I can't do the spankings in person!
