  • so.

    Stanford, CA.(Stanford U)
    Chicago, IL (Northwestern U)

Those are the two areas of the world where I’m looking at grad school right now. Both very much different from wee little Columbus. And both very much more challenging – though not so much with the football games as OSU.

    *sigh*
Just thinking about it though…makes me want to go get a job and stay here. I’m afraid of moving to another big(gish) city, another new state…to find another apartment (that takes three cats no less)…to learn my way around a new city, find grocery stores, new friends…places to “hang”. I’m afraid to apply to these schools or other ones, because it costs money to apply and what am I going to do if I’m not good enough or smart enough to get into any of them?

    *double sigh*
I’m getting paranoid and I don’t even graduate from my master’s program until September of 2004.

of course, all of this leaves out the relationship/family/friend front. That’s a tricky, sticky, scary, and potentially painful situation. I feel rooted. And I don’t want to.

  • I gotta tell you – Columbus is a LOT different than WEE LITTLE Huntington and you did just fine.  You’ll be fine if you move to an even bigger place.  (And why do I have to look at your feet????????????)

  • Follow your dreams, home is where you make it and family will always be there to support you…..

  • Your going to a second grad school????

  • New challenges and experiences can be rather intimidating and scary sometimes. We like to stay in our comfort zone, where everything’s familiar. But I think when the time arrives, you’ll be getting restless and will be ready to take on the next chapter in your life. Of course you’ll still have your old family and friends, but finding new people and adventures should prove to be a wonderful experience for you!

    Best wishes to you!!

  • You’re only rooted insofar as you allow yourself to be.  Change is a wonderful thing – expands your horizons

  • hey… i’m moving to chicago.  possibly to go to northwestern!  hurrah!
