• sooo...my weekend of frolicking...

  
  

  went to Sandusky on Saturday, after studying a bit at irishgem's I played racquetball with her and E., but cutthroat only...because Y was about to close. So then, after being healthy and working out, we went to Ryan's - which is a buffet style restuarant, and we ate WAY too much. Mmmmm...steak and mashed potatoes and all kinds of yumminess.

  
  

  Sunday we drove up to Windsor, to the Casino first to exchange our money (nice border officer this time around, even on the way back into the US they never asked us for our birth certificates or driver's licenses). At 4pm, we checked into the hotel - oooooo, a Hilton, very out of my personal budget, but thank gods for priceline! We checked out the room, turned up the heat (I wanted to be warm for once in the whole winter!) and then after some swimming and hottub time, we watched the football game (heh, we went to Canada and watched the semi-final thingies...) and after some Pizza! Pizza! with Montreal Smoked Meat (whoo-wooo, yumminess!) we headed back to the casino for a touch of gambling.

  
  

  Didn't stay very long, as the table was cold and there was no money to be won. We walked back to the hotel, because we missed the shuttle. It was cold. and snowy. and windy. Very. However, it was also clear and clean and it was just nice to walk without wearing backpack or worrying about being late to class. Our  hotel was right on the Detroit River (which looked gorgeous, nice and blue-green), about three blocks from the Casion. We were pretty frozen by the time we got there and we were looking forward to snuggling under covers in our nice toasty room (it was about midnight by then). We had a room on the 13th floor (how superstitious am I...) and in the elevator on the way to our room, about floor 7...the fire alarm went off and the elevator automatically took us back down the lobby...

  
  

  Actually, it kind of felt like being back in the dorms again, with firemen coming and everything (Canadian firemen have the very same outfits as American ones...).  We were very glad it was only a false alarm...but it took a very long time for everything to get back to normal and to head upstairs to get to our delayed snuggling.

  
  

  The next morning we got up and checked out of the hotel and then went mall hunting (damn hard to find, due to poor maps and the difficulty of deciphering what exactly "EC Row" was - a highway, who knew?). The mall was interesting...my favorite place was the "Fruit and Passions" stand, where I bought a clementine and lavender scented deodorant (mmmm...orangey scented armpits) and some organic cleaning supplies - I will have to see how well it works.

  
  

  After malling, we then hit up an A&P and bought all kinds of goodies, including Montreal Smoked Meat and some chai....then the 7-11s for candy bars (Aero bars! yay!). Then back across the border and onto the turnpike (traffic jam for 30 minutes). By this time it was 730 and I had a splitting headache...however, back to Sandusky and then eventually onto Columbus.

  
  

  So...very very busy weekend. Luckily, not a very expensive weekend - including gas, I think I only spent about 30$? very nice and helping with the newly invented "2004 Kelly cruise fund"

  
  

  It was a very good time, and I am very glad that I went. yay for mini-vacations!
