So I’m officially accepted into the program at Phoenix College that I applied to.
This is pleasing to me.
I’m continuing with my half-marathon training, after a very disappointing (and hot!) 5k on Saturday. I managed a 32:21 and had to WALK parts of it. I was indignant but didn’t wish to die from heat exhaustion. There was NOT enough by way of aid stations. Joshua managed a much more respectable time than I – coming in under 29 minutes. I’m jealous.
So far this week, I ran with Ripley to the dog park on Monday (3.5 miles) and I ran with Mr. Dog this morning (2.25 miles). Tomorrow I’ll run with Ripley to the dog park again and hopefully Thursday I’ll squeeze in some lifting. Then Friday I’m going to run to the dog park again and follow with my long run on Saturday of 8 miles.

I can’t run in the heat either. I hate it. Is Joshua also running the half marathon?
You (and the Chicago marathon last week) have inspired me to do another 13.1. I signed up for one next spring.
Have fun on Saturday’s 8 mile run!
@DeliaD - Joshua will be running my half marathon with me AND so will my older sister. I’m flying her in from Indiana and we’ll all three be running the Lost Dutchman half marathon. I’m really excited about it!
I’m glad we’re inspiring to someone! Running isn’t actually inspiring while I’m doing it. After I do it – I feel good and proud and like I accomplished something. While I’m doing it, it tends to be sweaty, messy, boring or painful. But I do it because of the way I feel afterwards, not the way I feel during.
I will have fun on Saturday, I think. I actually like my long runs better than my short run days. I usually run 4 or so miles to the dog park with one dog, get a nice long drink and walk around for about 10 minutes while eating my nasty energy gel pack (gag) and then I go another 4 or so miles home with a different dog. When that energy pack actually hits, I’m usually all warmed up from the run to the park but a little rested from taking a 10 minute break….my run back is usually faster by a good 10% than my run there. Last time I did my long run, I was sprinting the last quarter of a mile, just because I could. I’m definitely not fast but I think I am able to good for distance fairly well.
