Woodchoppers from bootcamp = sore back and hamstrings.
Fartlek – ran that this morning. I love the name. Fartlek, fartlek, fartlek! I don’t understand why they call it that when as far as I can tell, it’s only interval training for running. Whatever. That is day two of week one of my half-marathon training. Cool beans!
I’m off work tomorrow but I have bootcamp in the morning. So I’ll be getting up at my normal pre-0500 time and doing all my normal stuff but, I will just get to either go back to bed at 0830 or watch a movie rather than going to work. That will be exciting. And I think I may squeeze in some housework on Friday so that I can squeeze in another gym visit on Saturday (I’m thinking core-training from hell, just for funsies.).
I am TB free according to my first skin test. But I have to do another one next week. Still no word on my varicella titer. I’m really hoping to have lots of antibodies, as I really don’t want to cough up $200 for friggin’ chicken pox vaccines….stupid rules!

Fartlek is “speed play” but if you aren’t “speeding” yet, I don’t know why they’d call it that, either!
Woodchoppers KILL my back! (In a good way…) Do you guys do burpies at all? Now THOSE are insane…
@KameraSutra - Well, I’m trying to increase my speed – but really, my intervals right now are going from 6mph to 6.5mph – that isn’t really much speed play, honestly! Oh well – I will build slowly and well and NOT injure myself!
And we do burpies, indeed. Not often thank goodness but often enough. Whenever we do them, I am REALLY glad that we try to not do the same routine more than once a week. Last time we did them, I did wall-sits for 3 minutes straight, lunged for 1.5 minutes and THEN did burpies for 1.5 minutes. My quads were in some serious serious pain!!
@Kellybones - Ack! I haaate wall sits. I have yet to pass the two-minute mark. Last one was 1 min, 55 sec. I just could NOT last that extra 5 seconds to get it over the top! Lunging and planks are my strengths. Running is getting better, but I’m NOT “speedy”, either. Push-ups are totally random. One day, I’ll kick out thirty in a row, and the next day, if I’m particularly tired, I can barely eke ten out. It’s weird!
Glad to hear you’re goin’ strong, m’dear!
@KameraSutra - Planks and anything core related is my weakness. I’m not terribly flexible either. I’m thinking I’m going to have to add in a day of core training – guess that will be on Saturdays!
As for wall-sits, that there is one of my strong points. I got me some massive quad strength. As for pushups – well, I’m stalled out at 55 in a row right now and I can’t seem to get above that number. But I will continue to try! Have you done any measurements on your person? I’d love to know how much bigger your biceps have gotten! I think mine are up almost half an inch!
@Kellybones -
Yeah, there’s a gal in my group that can do 3.5-minute wall sits. Everyone just cheers because we all poop out between one and three minutes and she’s still goin’…
I haven’t remeasured since the last bootcamp, but my biceps are probably around the same. The tricep-area, however, has gotten smaller, which I think is a good thing. I don’t think I’m bulking up too much, although I obviously am because I have only lost ten pounds and yet I’ve lost almost two dress sizes!
