  • Okay.

So I did my measurements and still didn't go to the gym. But, I did bring my healthy lunch so as to avoid the subs that I know are coming...

I am down a total of 10.5 inches in 3 months.

I have lost 0.5 inches from my bicep.

I have lost 3.5 inches from my waist.

I have lost 4 inches from my hips.

I have lost 2.5 inches from my thigh.

I am attempting to remain motivated.

  • I need to start measuring myself, because this is FANTASTIC motivation. (I've lost ten pounds this month.) To see this all in plain statistics like that really shows the incredible progress you have made so far.

So, my next question is... what is your goal? How much do you want to lose overall?

  • I'm not looking forward to doing my measurements before starting the biggest loser challenge. But, I will be excited when they start getting SMALLER!

  • How can you be having motivation trouble with awesome stats like that! You're doing GREAT!!!

  • I can't even IMAGINE losing four inches in my hips. I would be ECSTATIC! (I will do it, though. Oh yes, I will!)

  • @KameraSutra - Well, they started at 47 inches around (at the widest point) and they are now down to 43 inches. I would like them to get further down. But that means more work. Sometimes I despair of this "lifestyle" change but other days it really doesn't seem that hard.

I'm sure you will do it. I do recommend journaling though. Not so pushy about the WWs plan itself - but the journaling that I do for it is really necessary to my way of life and will be, I think, necessary forever. I have such terrible calorie amnesia that if I don't write down everything that I eat and drink, I WILL forget.

  • @gwenstylez - Motivation trouble is especially bad when 4am rolls around and I don't want to get up and go to the gym! Motivation that is made of numbers does NOT withstand those early morning hours before dawn very well!

  • @GoForCo - The thing is, while is can suck to write down the number when they are big - it is nice to be able to track them getting smaller. Also, especially on the 3fatchicksforums, people are not going to judge you by your stats which is really nice. You are not your measurements!

  • @Kellybones - I am at 44 inches in the hips right now. I would LOVE to lose 6 inches, but that'll be a while.

I'm TERRIBLE at journaling. I've tried and tried and tried and tried. I will do it for two days and then fizzle out. I just can't keep up with it. But, for the most part, I'm pretty good.

The things I have changed in the last two months:

--almost no alcohol (just once in a great while); I was drinking SOMETHING (a beer or two, or a couple glasses of wine) about five times a week!
--almost no sweets; if I have something sweet, it usually a power bar, but rarely
--I work out more (not ENOUGH, mind you, but more than I was) -- about twice a week, sometimes three times
--It's wedding season, so I'm on my feet, running around with heavy equipment a lot more
--I eat smaller portions, more often
--I have a "cheat meal" once a week, usually Friday night for dinner

There's still a LOT of room for improvement but it's a good "start" on that lifestyle change.

  • You go, girl!!  I'm so proud (and a little bit jealous) of you!

  • @Kellybones -

I have the opposite issue...they will judge me for my size. Regardless of needing to lose 30+ pounds, I hide it well, even in my numbers I think. (But I don't have a tape measurer handy so I'm not sure.) There's a reason I never post about my weight loss. I get a LOT of nasty comments any time I say I need to lose weight. Hard to keep up any motivation with zero support.

  • @squintz22 -

People are pains in the asses.
I have never really had the problem that you do - though I do at times get dirty looks from some of the larger women at WWs if I say anything about having difficulty and what not. I really only have a few suggestions.

1.) Check out 3fatchicks.com/forum in general for very good non-judgemental support - and especially this section http://3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=197 it's for "Featherweights" or people with less to lose than others.

2.) If asked, tell them it's not for weight loss but for health gain - you want better cardiovascular health, fitness level or whatever.

or there is always the final option

3.) Tell them to go fuck themselves. What YOU do has NOTHING to do with them. NOTHING. And if they want to be nasty about it, they can shove it up their asses and blow it out their noses. You are doing what you do because YOU want to do it!
