  • I am terribly amused by this idea.
I’m not normally a Hilary fan, but I have to admit that I would really
have liked to have seen the facial expressions of congress when they
    saw that bill…

    Otherwise
    Things are terribly dull.
I did make shrinky-dinks yesterday though.
    That was fun.
    And I had hot dogs.
Which, well, hot dogs are gross, but I was craving hot dog goodness, so call it a plus I guess.

  • Aerotek did finally call.
    But not with anything useful.
Still waiting on the lawyers. Next Monday they should finally be done.
While I realize that this is the last week of the semester at ASU
(where the potential job is) it does seem a tad ridiculous to take 2
weeks to finalize contracts to hire two to three lab rats through a
    temp agencies. *sigh*

I am really bored. But I will wait until next Monday though if there is
no forthcoming interviews, I will instead break down and take one of
the low-level lab positions I’ve been avoiding because of the hours.
Who really wants to work second shift? Or third. Blergh. I suppose I
will suck it up if I have to. If nothing else, it will get me out of
the damn apartment. Hopefully, it will be a relatively short time of
employment at a non-first shift position.

  • Last weekend we hiked South Mountain.
We saw a couple of these and one of these.
We also saw scat. A lot of it too. But I think most of it was from dogs
that people were just too lazy to stop and pick up their poo.

    Today we hiked Lookout Mountain.
We saw about four of these
and even got to watch them feed and fight and dive-bomb each other. It
was truly impressive to hear. It did make me wish that we’d remembered
    the damn camera.

    Tomorrow, we’re going wall-climbing again.
And then to here to eat and then watch the sunset over the city with my relatives.

  • I love Etsy just for sheer browsing I
have time to kill looking fun. I also like the idea of supporting
people who are crafty and making things that are not mainstream.

I am, however, utterly in love with this piece.

Still waiting on Aerotek today – the contract writing and lawyers and
all that jazz is really slowing down my potential job. Even though it’s
contract work, I am really friggin’ willing to work it – because it’s
not evening or third shift work and it would pay relatively well. Back
working on a campus does bring back the yuck of parking there though. I
suppose I can bike year round in Arizona – no snow here! Though it does
make me wonder at the wisdom of biking in 115 degree heat…

    Edited to add this link.

  • For sheer amusement, this is darn hilarious.

  • Made a new friend today.
    We met via Craig’s List.
    You can find EVERYTHING there.
We’re going to meet sometime next week for a Shrinky-Dink makin’ party.

    Still no word from Aerotek.
Damn contracts and stupid lawyers who have to read them before they can set up interviews.
    I want employment, yo.

    I’m eating a Fun Dip.
It tastes like childhood. Only it makes my tongue a little owie.

  • As I was tagged:

6 things you don’t know about me

1.) I met my husband via an online dating service (Yahoo! Personals), though I was rejected my eHarmony…

2.) My eyes are so damn squinty that when I first got my contacts (I
wear hard ones) the optometrist had to give me a special plunger to get
them out until I could train myself to open my eyes big enough to be
able to get them out without outside help.

3.) I have a slight amount of claustrophobia – enough that I could
never convince myself to get into a tanning bed or anything that looks
that much like a coffin to me.

4.) When it comes to horror movies, I’m the biggest frickin’ chicken in
the world. My imagination is very overactive and when you add in
    someone else’s horrible visions….eeeep!

5.) I carry chapstick or something similar everywhere. If I forget it,
I feel slightly lost. I keep one in my purse and one by my computer as
well as one in my car and one in my pants’ pocket.

6.) I’m a picker. Scabs, whiteheads, blackheads and whatever else. Mine
or whoever else. I just want to dig. And pop. And squeeze. I don’t know
    why. (Icky, isn’t it?)

    ***

Wall-climbed Saturday and bruised my knees. From the wall-climbing, dirty minded folk.

Hiked on Sunday. Saw some real Arizona wildlife. Got sunburnt on the
bits that I missed with the sunscreen. That was my first hike, really.
I liked it. We will be doing that more often though we will need some
daypacks and I need some boots as tennys don’t really cut it.

    98 is the high today.
    Rent is also due today.
And I’m hoping to hear from Aerotek to set up an interview.
