Welcome to Arizona!
Well, actually, we’ve been here since about 2pm (Mountain time, that’s
4pm for those of you in the Midwestern areas). Today was about 84 and
sunny – which was lovely and I didn’t even get sunburnt.
It does make up for the snow in Tulsa….but I will get to that.
Let’s see…
The trip in a very short overview.
We were supposed to get a car dolly to tow my car – they were out of
dollies at U-Haul so we got a free upgrade to a trailer. Nice, I
suppose. Trailers are more expensive and easier to drive with but a
bitch on the gas mileage. It also meant that the Sunday afternoon
during which my father was nice enough to train us in driving with a
dolly was a bit of a waste. Ah well. Still need to send him a thank you
card I think.
Anyway, it was about 19F and we had no coats (packed already) on
Tuesday when we were trailering the car (a bit difficult, if you’ve
never done it, the wheel wells on the trailer actually prevent the car
door from opening all the way – that took some serious work). Of
course, we were already used to the cold as we spent all morning
packing the semi-truck trailer that ABF was hauling for us. I missed my
coat. And my hat and my gloves.
Other interesting things that happened – 2 inches of snow in Tulsa.
Freezing temps across most of the states – we didn’t clear 40 until we
were leaving Flagstaff, AZ. Zeppo yowled for four hours the first day
(out of about 14) and then for about an hour the second day (again out
of about 14). However, the last day (today) which was about 6 or so
hours – he yowled basically the whole time – until we turned on the
air. He was apparently hot. Who knew?
I was amused at certain city names: Tightwad, MO and Kellyville, OK
come to mind. Saw lots of dead things – a coyote, two dogs and a cow
being the most interesting.
We’re basically moved in – at least the stuff that we have with us. Our
semi-truck of shit will not be here for probably another 3 to 5 days.
But at least I have the internet.
OOoooo. And I had Chipotle’s for dinner.
