  • there's a learning curve...

    i hear this a lot...

especially in the molecular biology world, you have a lot to learn at the beginning - techniques, protocols, methodology, how to fix problems, who to call if there is a problem, etc, etc

but this learning curve...i like to think i might have finally reached the top...and am settling in for a nice walk on the plateau (so I can take off my fucking hiking boots!)

i spent 6 months getting the front end (the 5' end) of my gene (melanocortin 1 receptor)...
about 4 days to get the back end (the 3' end) of the same gene - using the same technique
apparently I have learned a lot since the beginning

    4 days - 6 months...big step forward
an indication of much knowledge gained?

how much further left to go?
    oh boy...

    lots.
